Rippling Pricing 2026: Every Plan, Real Costs and Hidden Fees

Rippling plans start at $8 per employee per month plus a monthly base fee in 2026. A 25-person US payroll and HRIS floor is $400/mo before that fee.

Rippling Pricing 2026: Every Plan, Real Costs and Hidden Fees

Rippling plans start at $8 per employee per month, plus a monthly base fee, and that headline is the wrong number to put in a budget. The pricing page turns the real bill into a custom quote, and Rippling's own pages do not agree on the base fee. A 25-person US team on HRIS plus annually billed payroll is a $400/mo floor before any base. Gusto Plus lists at $380/mo for the same headcount.

Those figures were read on 16 October 2026. Toolradar data: the payroll ranking we publish had evaluated 73 payroll tools that day, and Rippling is the overall pick on the list. The pick is a product rank, not an invoice. For what the software does, start with the Rippling review. The rest of this page is the bill.

Picture a people lead at a 25-person company who was handed a single per-person start and is about to compare it with a payroll card that already includes a base fee. Rippling does not sell a public Core, Plus, and Premium ladder. You buy a required platform, then modules, and the order form is the only place the lines are added up.

What does Rippling publish for each line?

Rippling prices most products per employee each month, and some products also carry a monthly base fee. Payroll cannot be bought on its own. The payroll article updated 17 June 2026 says payroll is an add-on to the core HRIS, and its FAQ says you cannot run payroll without that platform. A payroll-only budget is the wrong shape of quote.

Line What Rippling prints Where
Plan start $8 per employee per month, plus a monthly base fee it does not name Pricing FAQ
Small-business base $40 per month, on top of the same per-user start Small-business page
Unity platform The same per-employee start, described as required Small-business payroll roundup, updated 15 October 2026
Payroll module base $35 per month Same roundup
Domestic payroll, annual The same per-employee start as HRIS, billed annually Payroll article, 17 June 2026
Domestic payroll, monthly $10 per employee per month Same article
HRIS article base A base fee of $35 per employee per month, in the same sentence as the HRIS start HRIS article, updated 31 August 2026
Off-cycle runs in some partner countries $50 per employee per run Payroll article FAQ
Benefits, time, devices, spend, PEO No list price Pricing page, PEO, devices, spend

The base fee is the line that moves a real budget, and the documents do not describe the same line. The small-business page adds a flat $40 per month. The October roundup states a monthly payroll base, while the comparison table on that same article calls the payroll module quote-based. The August HRIS article attaches a base fee to each employee. A flat monthly amount and a per-employee amount are not the same invoice.

Read the August sentence against the range later in that article. At 100 employees, a literal per-employee reading of that base is $3,500/mo before any module. The same article then says a 100-person company on HRIS, payroll, benefits, and time should expect about $15 to $25 per employee, which is $1,500 to $2,500 a month. A $3,500 base cannot sit inside a $2,500 expectation. Treat the per-employee reading as the one to challenge, and make the order form say whether the base is flat.

The June article is the only page that splits domestic payroll by billing term. Annual billing uses the same per-employee start as HRIS. Monthly billing is the $10 rate. The pricing FAQ does not say a contract must be annual, so the term belongs on the quote next to the rate. Global payroll's own page repeats the same per-user start and does not add a country fee.

What does Rippling cost for 10, 25, and 40 people?

The rows below add the June article's HRIS start to its payroll rate, then show what happens if you also add the flat base from the small-business page. They leave out both base-fee sentences in the first table on purpose. They are our multiplication, not a quote, and they exclude benefits, time, devices, spend, taxes, and benefit premiums.

HRIS at the $8 start plus payroll at that same annual rate is $16 per employee before any base. Swap the payroll line for the $10 monthly rate and the pair is $18 per employee. A 25-person annual path is 25 times that pair, which is the floor in the opening. The monthly path at that headcount is $450.

Employees Annual payroll path, no base Monthly payroll path, no base Annual path plus the $40 base
10 $160 $180 $200
25 $400 $450 $440
40 $640 $720 $680
100 $1,600 $1,800 $1,640

Headcount, not the base, drives the bill once the team is past a handful of people. At 10 employees the flat base is a quarter of the $160 annual-path subtotal. At 100 employees that same flat amount is a rounding error next to $1,600. Choosing the monthly payroll rate instead of the annual one costs $2 per employee each month, which is $600 a year at 25 people.

Those two base-fee sentences would rewrite the third column if sales uses them. The flat monthly reading would shave $5 a month off every row in that column. The per-employee reading would add $875 a month at 25 people and would dwarf the module lines. Ask which sentence the order form follows before you compare Rippling with a vendor that prints one card.

There is no minimum headcount on the small-business FAQ, so a five-person team is allowed to buy. On the annual path plus that flat base, five people come to $120 a month. That is still a floor. It is not the number in the signature packet.

What do add-ons, off-cycle runs, and implementation cost?

The modules people actually add are the ones without a printed rate. Benefits administration, time and attendance, device management, and spend each have a product page or a pricing-page mention, and none of them prints a dollar figure. The global payroll page uses the same per-user start as the pricing FAQ and still sends the country mix to a quote. Rippling PEO describes co-employment, benefits, and compliance support and publishes no fee. Our PEO cost guide is the place for how other PEOs price that model.

The August HRIS article is the only Rippling page that attempts a bundle. It gives the per-employee band quoted above for HRIS, payroll, benefits, and time at 100 employees, and $30 to $50 or more when global payroll, IT, and spend are in the mix. Badge, fingerprint, and facial-recognition time clocks may run up to $190 per employee per month. The wider stack at that headcount is $3,000 to $5,000 a month. The hardware ceiling, if it applied to every person, would be $19,000 a month. That last figure is a cap on a feature, not a typical plan.

Those ranges do not reconcile with the June line items. Two modules at the annual rates are already $1,600 a month at 100 people, which is $100 above the low end of a four-module expectation. Rippling is estimating, not adding its own published rates. Use the range as a warning that benefits and time can move the bill, and use the June rates as the only lines you can multiply. Do not add the range on top of the floor.

A few charges are specific enough to budget, and a few are only named.

Item What it costs Who it hits
Off-cycle payroll in native countries, including the US No extra run fee Unlimited runs for bonuses, corrections, and terminations
Off-cycle payroll in some EOR and partner countries The partner-country run fee in the first table Countries where a local partner runs payroll
Multi-state US payroll No extra charge, per the small-business FAQ Any second state
Printed and mailed W-2s or 1099s "A small fee," amount not printed Employers who want paper forms
Standard implementation No fee Most small businesses: 1 to 3 weeks, three calls
Consultative implementation No list price Complex or custom setups
Startup program 6 months free Eligible US VC-backed startups only

US off-cycle runs are the friendly line. The payroll FAQ says free, unlimited off-cycle runs apply where Rippling runs payroll itself, and it names the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, India, Singapore, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Ireland, and some entities in France and Germany. In certain employer-of-record countries the same FAQ charges $50 per employee per run. A bonus paid to 20 people in one of those countries is a $1,000 administrative fee on top of the wages. The page tells you to ask sales for the country list, so the quote should name every country you might pay, not only the ones you employ today.

Multi-state payroll is a real difference from a one-state payroll plan. The small-business FAQ says Rippling does not charge more to run payroll in additional states. Gusto's pricing page, read the same day, puts multi-state payroll on Plus, and its compliance add-on for Simple and Plus is $85 a month per state on an annual contract. A company already in three states should not compare Rippling's floor with a one-state Gusto total.

Implementation is free for the standard path, which matters more than it sounds. The small-business FAQ says most small businesses take one to three weeks, with an implementation manager and three calls of 30 to 60 minutes, at no charge. The consultative service for complex setups has no printed price, so a multi-entity or global first payroll should ask for that fee before kickoff. Paper W-2s and 1099s are the other unnamed fee: digital forms are part of the product, and print-and-mail is "a small fee" with no amount.

The payroll article also says Rippling will reimburse penalties and interest when Rippling caused the tax error. That is Rippling's statement, not a measured claim, and it is worth having in the order form because a payroll mistake is a cash event, not a support ticket.

Does Rippling have a free plan or a startup discount?

No. There is no public free payroll or HRIS plan, and the pricing page does not offer a self-serve trial. The only free window is the startup program: eligible US VC-backed startups can get Rippling free for 6 months. Availability depends on funding status and stage, and you have to ask. A bootstrapped company, or a startup that is past the stage Rippling has in mind, should budget the paid floor from month one.

If a permanently free tool is the requirement, Rippling is the wrong shortlist. The free payroll software guide lists the caps on those tiers. Rippling's pitch is the opposite shape: a paid platform you extend with modules as headcount and countries grow.

Switching onto Rippling mid-year is allowed. The pricing FAQ says Rippling can import year-to-date payroll from the previous provider, including mid-year. That removes one common reason to wait until January. It does not tell you what it costs to leave. The pricing page does not print a cancellation fee, and it does not print a minimum term, so both questions belong on the quote.

How does that bill compare with Gusto and BambooHR?

Gusto is the card you can multiply this week. On Gusto's pricing page, Simple is $49/mo plus $6 per person, Plus is $80/mo plus $12 per person, and Premium is $180/mo plus $22 per person. At 25 employees those totals are $199, $380, and $730 a month. BambooHR Core, for 25 or fewer employees, is a flat $250/mo, and BambooHR payroll is a separate product with no list price. The plans are not substitutes.

At 25 US employees Monthly total What the total includes
Rippling, annual HRIS + payroll, no base $400 Two June lines only
Rippling, that path plus the flat base $440 Still no benefits, time, or devices
Gusto Simple $199 One state, no time tracking
Gusto Plus $380 Time tracking, multi-state, next-day pay
Gusto Premium $730 Named advisor and compliance tools
BambooHR Core $250 HR record for 25 or fewer; payroll not included

Gusto Plus is the fair payroll comparison, because it is the plan that covers a second state. At 10 people, Plus is $200 a month, which matches Rippling's annual path plus the flat base. At five people that Rippling path is $120 against $140 for Plus, so the Rippling floor is lower while the team is tiny. Above 10 people the Plus card stays under the Rippling floor plus that base: at 40 employees Plus is $560 and the Rippling annual path plus the base is $680. The gap is the per-person pair. Gusto Plus adds $12 a person. The June Rippling pair is higher before any module you still have to buy.

That crossover dies if the base fee is the per-employee reading in the first table. It also dies if you need device management. Gusto does not ship laptops or shut off app logins from the employee record. Rippling's reason to exist, on its own pages, is that HR, payroll, and IT share one record. If that is the problem you are solving, a lower Gusto card is not the same purchase. A company that only wants the employee file, and already likes its payday vendor, should price BambooHR as the file and leave Rippling's payroll lines out. Read Rippling versus Gusto for the product split, and the cheaper Rippling alternatives if the quote comes back above this floor. BambooHR pricing covers the flat-rate quirk on that product, and the BambooHR review plus the HRIS cost guide are the file-versus-platform versions of the choice. ADP pricing is the national payroll desk, which publishes its own cards rather than a single platform start.

Which Rippling setup is worth a quote?

Buy the quote when the employee record has to carry payroll and the laptop. A US team that only needs payday in one state will usually pay less on a printed card, and Gusto Simple at 25 people is the illustration: $199 against the floor in the cost table, which still is not the full Rippling stack. Move up the Rippling conversation when a second state, a contractor abroad, or an offboarding that must reclaim a device is already on the roadmap.

Ask the quote for five lines, in writing.

  • The platform or HRIS amount, separate from payroll.
  • US payroll on its own line, marked annual or monthly.
  • The base fee, marked flat or per employee, and which published figure it matches.
  • Benefits, time, devices, and spend, each as its own line, including a zero when you are not buying it.
  • Every country you might pay, and whether the partner-country off-cycle fee applies there.

If the quote will not itemize those lines, you cannot tell whether you are above or below the floor on this page. For hiring abroad, the Deel versus Rippling comparison is the other quote to put beside it, and Deel's review covers the employer-of-record product. The wider shelves are best payroll software, HRIS for a small business, and best PEO services. Gusto's review is the product verdict on the card in the table. How a small-business payday is usually priced, across more than one vendor, is in what payroll costs.

How we priced this

We read vendor pages and did not run the products. Rippling's plan start, startup program, and quote path come from its pricing page. The flat base, the no-minimum-headcount rule, the multi-state rule, the W-2 mailing note, and the free standard implementation come from its small-business page. The HRIS and payroll per-employee rates, the monthly payroll rate, and the off-cycle country rules come from the payroll article updated 17 June 2026. The bundle ranges and the per-employee base sentence come from the HRIS article updated 31 August 2026. The Unity line and the monthly payroll base come from the small-business payroll roundup updated 15 October 2026. Global payroll, PEO, device management, and spend were checked the same day and did not add a list price.

Gusto's three plan rates come from Gusto's pricing page on 16 October 2026. BambooHR's flat Core rate for 25 or fewer employees comes from BambooHR's pricing page the same day. Totals are our arithmetic on those published rates. Gusto and BambooHR have directory profiles next to Rippling's. The HRIS ranking is the file-system shelf beside the payroll one. Louis Corneloup, who founded Toolradar and Dupple, edited this page. The editorial policy and how we rate explain what we will and will not claim. Re-check the order form before you sign, because Rippling's pages do not currently agree with each other.

FAQ

How much does Rippling cost per month in 2026?

Rippling's pricing page says plans start at $8 per employee per month plus a monthly base fee, and the total is a custom quote. On the June payroll article, HRIS plus annually billed US payroll is $16 per employee before any base, so 25 people is a $400/mo floor. Adding the flat base in the cost table makes that path $440/mo. Benefits, time, devices, and spend are extra and unpublished.

How much does Rippling payroll cost per employee?

The June payroll article prices domestic payroll at the same per-employee start as HRIS when you pay annually, and at $10 per employee per month when you pay monthly. Payroll is not sold without the platform. The small-business page also shows that same per-user payroll start plus the flat base in the first table, so the per-employee line is not the whole payroll bill.

What is Rippling's base fee?

Rippling does not publish one base fee. The pricing FAQ says a monthly base exists and does not name it. The small-business page says $40 per month. The 15 October roundup says the payroll module starts at a $35 per month base. The August HRIS article says a base fee of $35 per employee per month, which conflicts with that article's own bundle range. The order form has to pick one.

Does Rippling have a free plan?

No. There is no public free plan. Eligible US VC-backed startups can get 6 months free, and everyone else should ask, because eligibility depends on funding stage. Standard implementation for a small business is free. That is setup, not a free subscription.

Does Rippling charge for off-cycle payroll?

Not in the United States, when Rippling itself runs the payroll. The payroll FAQ says off-cycle runs are free and unlimited in its native payroll countries. In some employer-of-record countries that use a local partner, the fee is $50 per employee per run. Ask for your country list before you promise a same-week bonus.

Is Rippling cheaper than Gusto?

At 10 people, Gusto Plus and Rippling's annual HRIS-plus-payroll path with the $40 base both come to $200/mo, using list rates. Above that headcount Plus is lower on the printed card: at 25 people Plus is $380 and the Rippling path with that base is $440. The comparison flips if you need modules Gusto does not sell, or if the base fee on your quote is larger than $40.
