Deel Review

A global hiring platform that runs contractor payments, EOR employment and US PEO from one dashboard, priced per worker with no free plan.

Independently researched. No pay-for-placement. 4 alternatives covered
TL;DR

Deel is worth it in 2026 if you are hiring contractors and employees across many countries and want one platform to run both. Contractor management starts at $49 per contractor per month and global EOR runs $599 per employee per month, both verified on Deel's pricing page in September 2026. There is no free plan, only a guided demo.

Its biggest strength is breadth: 150 countries on one contract, one invoice and one support line, which is why Toolradar's September 2026 employer of record ranking places Deel first among the 10 EOR providers it evaluated. The biggest catch is that Remote and Oyster both charge more per EOR seat, yet a company hiring in only two or three countries can still land a cheaper setup with a narrower tool once statutory benefits are added. If price per EOR seat matters more than breadth, get a Remote or Oyster quote first.

Deel started in 2019 as a contractor payments tool and has since become the platform HR and people-ops teams reach for first when a hire lives outside the country the company is incorporated in.

It now moves $17.3 billion in payments a year for more than 40,000 companies, according to Deel's own company page, and it covers three very different hiring paths: paying an independent contractor, employing someone through Deel's own local entity (EOR), and running payroll for US employees through a PEO.

The question for a people team is not whether Deel works, since it clearly does at scale, but whether paying its per-seat premium beats stitching together cheaper, narrower tools.

This review breaks down what each Deel product actually includes, what it costs today, where the platform is genuinely strong, and where it falls short.

We compare it against Remote, Oyster, Rippling and Multiplier, four platforms a buyer researching Deel will also get quotes from, so you can see when Deel's breadth earns the premium and when a narrower or cheaper option covers the same ground.

HR leaders and founders hiring their first international employee or contractor are the audience this review is written for.

Toolradar data: the September 2026 employer of record ranking evaluated 10 products, and Deel ranks first on that list; Remote and Oyster also appear in that directory.

What is Deel?

Deel is a global hiring and payroll platform built by Deel Inc, founded in 2019 and now employing more than 4,000 people itself across over 100 countries, per its own about page. It sells three core products aimed at different hiring situations, all managed from one dashboard.

Deel Contractor centralizes contractor onboarding, compliant contracts and payouts in 120 or more currencies, with automated invoicing and tax guidance.

A deeper Contractor of Record option exists for companies that want Deel itself to become the contractor's engaging party, adding a misclassification-risk layer standard contractor management does not cover.

Deel EOR lets a company hire a full-time employee in one of 150 available countries without setting up a local entity: Deel's own subsidiary is the legal employer, and the monthly fee covers payroll, tax filings, statutory benefits and locally compliant contracts.

Deel US PEO covers domestic hiring across all 50 states, bundling payroll, healthcare, dental, vision, mental health, fertility benefits and a 401(k) without the international entity question.

Around those three, Deel also sells Deel HR and immigration support as add-on modules. The pitch is consolidation: one vendor, one contract and one support line instead of a different tool for contractors, EOR employees and US payroll.

How Deel works

Getting started means picking a hiring type for each worker rather than a single account tier. Adding a contractor takes a compliant contract template, a currency and a payment schedule; Deel handles the invoice, the currency conversion and the tax form collection.

That contractor flow is the fastest part of the product and the one most companies touch first.

Hiring through EOR is heavier because Deel's local entity is doing the actual employing. HR fills in role, salary and country, Deel's team drafts a locally compliant contract and statutory benefits package, and the new hire completes onboarding through the Deel worker app.

The country you pick changes the paperwork, the notice period and the benefits Deel is legally required to include, so two EOR hires at the same salary in different countries can carry different real costs once local statutory add-ons apply.

US PEO hiring is simpler since one legal framework applies across all 50 states, closer to a standard payroll setup than to the EOR flow.

Day to day, HR lives in a single dashboard covering time off, payslips, expenses and compliance alerts across every worker type.

The rough edge is scope creep: HR and immigration support are separate line items on top of the base products, so a proposal built only around the EOR or contractor rate misses what a fully staffed international team actually costs.

Deel key features

Contractor management and paymentsEssential
Compliant contract templates, automated invoicing and payouts in 120 or more currencies, with built-in tax guidance for each worker's country. It is the cheapest entry point into Deel and the product most buyers try first.
Employer of Record (EOR)Essential
Deel's own local entities employ a worker in any of 150 available countries so a company never needs to open a foreign subsidiary. The monthly fee covers payroll, statutory benefits, tax filings and a locally compliant contract, with country rules driving the real cost.
US Professional Employer Organization (PEO)
Domestic hiring across all 50 states, bundling payroll with healthcare, dental, vision, mental health, fertility benefits and a 401(k), without touching the international EOR flow.
Contractor of Record
Deel becomes the engaging party for the contractor relationship, adding a deeper compliance and misclassification-risk layer than standard contractor management for companies worried about worker classification audits.
Deel HR and immigration
Add-on modules for core HR records and work visa or immigration support, priced separately from the hiring products and sold on top of whichever worker types a company already runs through Deel.

Deel pricing

Deel is the only platform here that shows a complete per-product price list without a sales call, verified on Deel's pricing page in September 2026: contractor management, contractor of record, US PEO and EOR each carry their own published monthly rate, detailed in the table above. There is no free plan, only a demo.

Remote publishes the closest full price list, checked the same month on Remote's pricing page: EOR runs above Deel's rate, Global Payroll and Contractor Management both undercut Deel's contractor entry price, Contractor of Record matches Deel's $325 rate exactly, and PEO starts from $99 per employee per month, below Deel's US rate.

Oyster also publishes a rate card: EOR is level with Remote, above Deel, while Global Contractors is free for the first 30 days before a per-contractor fee starts, the only free period among these five platforms.

Its People Partner Services add-on for HR advisory is billed at $300 an hour rather than per worker.

Rippling publishes no list price for its Employer of Record product: pricing runs through a custom quote once the required core platform and per-employee EOR module are added, so a buyer cannot compare a Rippling number against these four without booking a call.

Multiplier names Core, Growth and Enterprise plans on its own pricing page but publishes no USD figure on that page, so check current pricing directly on Multiplier's site before comparing it to Deel.

Deel pros and cons

What we like

  • 150 available countries and 40,000-plus customers give it the widest reach of any platform here.
  • One dashboard runs contractor payments, EOR employment and US PEO payroll instead of three separate tools.
  • Contractor pricing is the cheapest entry point on this list.

What could be better

  • EOR pricing sits below Remote and Oyster's rate, but country-specific statutory benefits still push the real cost higher.
  • No free plan or trial, only a guided demo, so there is no way to test the platform before committing.
  • HR and immigration support are separate paid add-ons on top of the base hiring products.

Who Deel is for

Deel fits companies hiring across several countries at once, mixing contractors and full-time employees, that want one vendor and one invoice instead of separate EOR, payroll and contractor tools.

Its breadth of 150 countries on a single contract is the reason it lands on top of Toolradar's EOR ranking, and it suits a people team that expects to keep adding new countries over the next year rather than staying fixed at two or three.

It is a weaker fit in a few clear cases. A company hiring in only one or two countries can often get a lower EOR rate from a narrower specialist quote than Deel's flat fee. A US-only team that just needs payroll and benefits does not need Deel's global machinery at all.

And a founder who wants a price with no per-country variables should budget time for Deel's country-specific benefit rules to show up once a contract is drafted, since the base EOR fee is the floor, not the ceiling, of what a hire in a high-benefit country will actually cost.

The bottom line

Deel earns its place as the default shortlist entry for global hiring. The combination of 150 countries, contractor payments and US PEO in one dashboard is genuinely useful for a people team that expects to keep hiring internationally, and Toolradar's own September 2026 ranking puts it first among 10 EOR providers evaluated for that reason.

Buy Deel when breadth and a single vendor relationship matter more than shaving the last dollar off a per-seat EOR rate.

The trade-off is that Deel's EOR fee is a floor, not a ceiling, once country-specific statutory benefits are added, and there is no free plan to test the platform first. Get a Remote or Oyster quote alongside Deel's if you are hiring in only one or two countries, since both publish a directly comparable EOR rate.

Choose Rippling if EOR is one module inside a platform you already run for HR, IT and payroll, and confirm current pricing with Multiplier before treating it as a like-for-like comparison.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Deel cost?
Deel Contractor management starts at $49 per contractor per month, Contractor of Record is $325 per contractor per month, US PEO is $125 per employee per month, and global EOR is $599 per employee per month, all verified on Deel's own pricing page in September 2026. There is no free plan; Deel offers a guided demo instead of a trial.
Is Deel worth it in 2026?
For a company hiring contractors and employees across multiple countries, yes: one contract and one dashboard for 150 countries is hard to match. It is a harder sell if you only hire in one or two countries, where Remote or Oyster's directly comparable EOR pricing is worth quoting before you commit to Deel.
Does Deel have a free plan or free trial?
No. Deel offers a guided demo rather than a free plan or trial for any of its products. Among the alternatives in this review, only Oyster offers a genuinely free period, 30 days on its Global Contractors product before its paid fee starts.
What are the best Deel alternatives?
Remote is the closest match on breadth, with owned entities in 90-plus countries and unlimited indemnity on EOR hires, though its EOR rate runs above Deel's. Oyster adds a 30-day free trial on contractor management. Rippling suits teams already running HR, IT and payroll on that platform, and Multiplier is worth a quote once its current USD pricing is confirmed.
How does Deel's EOR pricing compare to Remote and Oyster?
Deel's global EOR fee runs a hundred dollars below Remote and Oyster, which both charge $699 per employee per month for the same service, verified on each vendor's pricing page in September 2026. Which platform ends up cheaper depends on the hiring path, since Deel's US PEO option undercuts Remote's PEO starting price, not just the headline EOR number.
Can Deel handle both contractors and full-time employees?
Yes. Deel runs contractor payments, a deeper Contractor of Record option, US employee payroll through PEO, and international employee hiring through EOR, all from the same account and all with published monthly per-worker pricing, which is the core reason companies with a mixed workforce shortlist it.
