BambooHR Pricing 2026: Every Plan, Real Costs and Hidden Fees

BambooHR lists $10 per employee on Core, $17 on Pro and $25 on Elite, or a flat monthly fee for teams of 25 or fewer. Add-ons are quote-only.

BambooHR Pricing 2026: Every Plan, Real Costs and Hidden Fees

BambooHR charges $10 per employee per month on Core, $17 on Pro and $25 on Elite, per its pricing page, verified 10 October 2026. Teams of 25 or fewer pay a flat $250, $425 or $650 a month on Core, Pro and Elite. The FAQ quotes $10.25 and $17.50 for Core and Pro, so ask which rate your quote uses.

The plan price is the number people find first. The budget you actually sign for also depends on payroll, benefits and the plan limits, so this guide costs out several team sizes and lists what the headline leaves out. For the product verdict, start with our BambooHR review.

What does each BambooHR plan cost?

BambooHR sells three plans, each listed per employee per month. Core is the entry plan. Pro adds 360 review cycles and 1:1 meetings. Elite adds compensation planning, salary benchmarking and HR benchmarks. Every plan card carries a Get Quote button, so the card price is a starting point for a quote and not the amount you will pay.

Plan Per employee per month Flat rate, 25 or fewer Job openings Compliance courses Performance reviews
Core $10 (FAQ: $10.25) $250 5 1 No
Pro $17 (FAQ: $17.50) $425 25 15 Yes, 360 reviews and 1:1s
Elite $25 $650 50 300+ Yes, plus everything in Pro

Two columns matter more than the price. The job-opening cap is the first limit a hiring team hits, since Core lists 5 job openings. Performance reviews start on Pro, so a Core team that wants reviews should budget at the Pro rate from day one.

Which BambooHR price will you pay?

The plan cards and the FAQ on the same page disagree on two of the three rates. The cards show the headline Core and Pro rates, while the FAQ gives higher ones, both per employee per month. Elite matches in both places. The page does not explain the difference, and it does not say which figure a new contract starts from.

The gap looks small per head and grows with headcount. At 40 employees, Core costs $410 a month at the FAQ rate against $400 on the cards, which is $120 a year. Pro at the same size is $700 against $680, or $240 a year. At 100 employees the difference is $300 a year on Core and $600 on Pro. Treat the cards as the published list, and ask for the per-employee rate to be written into the order form, because the FAQ figure is the higher one.

What does BambooHR cost for your team size?

The flat rate sets the price for small teams. Companies with 25 or fewer employees pay the same monthly fee whatever their headcount, so per head it costs more than the card rate, most of all at the smallest sizes.

Team size on the flat rate Core per head Pro per head Elite per head
10 $25.00 $42.50 $65.00
15 $16.67 $28.33 $43.33
20 $12.50 $21.25 $32.50
25 $10.00 $17.00 $26.00

A 10-person team on Core pays $3,000 a year, which works out to $25 a head, two and a half times the headline Core rate. The flat rate matches the card price exactly at 25 people on Core and Pro. On Elite it does not: 25 people pay the flat fee, which is what 26 people pay at the card rate. Above 25 people, the per-employee price takes over, and the monthly totals at the card rates look like this.

Employees Core per month Pro per month Elite per month
26 $260 $442 $650
40 $400 $680 $1,000
100 $1,000 $1,700 $2,500
250 $2,500 $4,250 $6,250

These are card-rate totals before the volume discount. BambooHR applies that discount automatically as headcount grows, but it does not publish the percentage, so read each total as the figure before any discount and check the quote for the real number. Over a year, 40 employees cost $4,800 on Core, $8,160 on Pro and $12,000 on Elite at list. At 100 employees the same plans cost $12,000, $20,400 and $30,000. Moving from Pro to Elite adds $8 a head each month, or $3,840 a year at 40 employees.

What does the headline price leave out?

The plan price buys the HR system itself. Payroll, Benefits Administration, Time and Attendance and Global Employment are separate products, and the pricing page publishes no price for any of them.

Add-on Price on the page Limit stated on the page
Payroll Quote only US employees only
Benefits Administration Quote only US employees only
Time and Attendance Quote only None stated
Global Employment (powered by Remote) Quote only, with a Global Cost Calculator Sold for hiring workers worldwide

Payroll and benefits are where budgets move. A US team adding payroll to any plan gets a second line that the page does not price. A company with staff abroad should price Global Employment on its own, because the page gives no figure for it, and the page points to a Global Cost Calculator for an estimate. If global hiring drives the decision, run the Rippling review beside this quote before you sign.

The limits are the other hidden cost. Core caps job openings at 5, Pro at 25 and Elite at 50. Compliance training is one course on Core, 15 on Pro and more than 300 on Elite. Compensation planning, salary benchmarking and HR benchmarks sit only on Elite, and Elite also includes an extra 30 days of implementation for its features, so a cost plan should count that time as well as the fee.

The Core card also lists On-Demand Pay, which lets employees draw part of their earned wages before payday. BambooHR says it costs employers nothing and adds no admin work. That is the vendor's claim, so get it in writing before you rely on it.

How do you pay, and which discounts apply?

Monthly customers pay by credit card or ACH. Annual upfront payment goes by wire transfer or check. The page offers month-to-month terms or an extended term, but it does not say what the extended term costs or saves, and it publishes no annual discount.

Three discounts appear on the page. Volume discounts apply automatically as headcount grows, with no percentage stated. The bundle takes 15% off when you combine Payroll and Benefits Administration with any plan, for US employees only. Registered nonprofits get an additional 15% off. The page does not say whether the bundle discount reduces the plan price, the two add-ons or the whole invoice, so ask which line it covers, because that decides how much of the saving reaches the plan.

Which BambooHR plan fits your budget?

Core is the cost-led choice for a team that needs records, time off, onboarding and basic compliance training, and that expects five or fewer job openings. Pro costs $7 more per head than Core and is the first plan with reviews, so it is the choice once performance cycles matter.

Elite costs $8 more per head than Pro, which is $96 a year for each employee. Pay that premium when compensation cycles or benchmark data are a real need. Otherwise the same money goes further on Pro, and a 40-person company saves $3,840 a year by staying there.

How does BambooHR compare on cost?

A fair cost comparison needs the same headcount and the same add-ons on both sides, and vendors do not publish those in the same way. Our other HR pricing guides do that work for each rival. Gusto's pricing prices payroll first, with a monthly base and a per-person fee, so it is the closer comparison if payroll is the main purchase. ADP's pricing covers its RUN packages for teams of 1 to 49 employees, which overlap with the sizes where BambooHR's flat rate applies. How much an HRIS costs places BambooHR in the category range, and how much payroll costs for a small business prices payroll for a 10-person team, the line BambooHR leaves unpriced. The BambooHR and HiBob comparison sets the two side by side, and the BambooHR alternatives guide lists rivals to check against this price list.

Toolradar data: BambooHR is the most compared HRIS tool on Toolradar over the last 90 days, with 288 side-by-side comparisons. Toolradar tracks 33 HRIS tools as of 10 October 2026 in its HRIS ranking, and its BambooHR profile lists the tool beside its rivals.

How we priced this

We read BambooHR's pricing page on 10 October 2026, including the three plan cards, the FAQ and the add-on sections. Every price on this page comes from that page: bamboohr.com/pricing. Every total is our arithmetic on those prices, not a BambooHR quote. Totals use card rates before the volume discount, and per-head figures divide the flat fee by the headcount. Rival prices appear only through links to our other guides, each dated on its own page.

FAQ

How much does BambooHR cost per month?

BambooHR costs $10 per employee per month on Core, $17 on Pro and $25 on Elite, according to its pricing page verified on 10 October 2026. Companies with 25 or fewer employees pay a flat monthly fee instead. Payroll and the other add-ons are quoted separately and have no published price.

Why does the BambooHR FAQ quote $10.25 when the plan card says $10?

The FAQ says BambooHR starts at $10.25 per employee per month on Core and $17.50 on Pro, while the plan cards show the headline rates. Elite is the same in both places. The page does not explain the difference, so ask which rate your quote uses. At 40 employees the gap is $120 a year on Core and $240 a year on Pro.

How much does BambooHR cost for 10 employees?

A 10-person team pays a flat $250 a month on Core, $425 on Pro and $650 on Elite. On Pro and Elite that is $42.50 and $65 a head, the highest per-head figures for those two plans in this guide. For a team this size, compare those prices with the small business HRIS guide before you commit.

Does BambooHR have a free plan or a free trial?

No. The pricing page lists no free plan and no free trial, and its calls to action are a free price quote and an ROI calculator. If you want to test the product first, ask the sales team for a demo or trial before you sign. For a free payroll option, read the free payroll software guide.

Does BambooHR charge extra for payroll?

Yes. Payroll is a separate add-on with no published price, and the page limits it to US employees. The 15% bundle discount applies when you combine Payroll and Benefits Administration with any plan, but the page does not say which part of the invoice it covers.

Is BambooHR cheaper on an annual contract?

The page publishes no annual discount. Annual upfront payment goes by wire transfer or check, and the page does not say what its extended term saves, so ask for that figure in the quote.
