UKG Pro vs UKG Ready (2026): Which UKG Suite Fits Your Company?
UKG Pro vs UKG Ready in 2026: Ready is UKG's all-in-one suite for small and midsize firms, Pro its enterprise HCM with payroll in 160+ countries. Both are quoted.

Choose UKG Ready if you are a small or midsize business that wants HR, payroll, time and scheduling in one system; choose UKG Pro if you are an enterprise with complex workforce rules or payroll in several countries, since UKG lists Pro's global payroll across 160+ countries. Neither suite has a public price, so both are bought on a quote. Checked on UKG's own product pages on 17 October 2026.
Toolradar data: among the 33 HRIS tools tracked by Toolradar, the software directory we run, UKG Ready is listed as an alternative to 9 other tools, the 4th highest count in the category as of October 2026. BambooHR leads that list at 46, which tells you who Ready is most often weighed against.
The facts on this page come from UKG's UKG Pro page, UKG Ready page and UKG Ready plans page, all read on 17 October 2026, plus the published prices of two non-UKG reference points named below.

The size line decides most shortlists. UKG's own navigation sends small and midsize visitors to Ready and enterprise visitors to Pro, and its plan FAQ describes Ready as a solution "designed for small to midsize organizations." A 120-person manufacturer and a 12,000-person hospital system are not choosing between the same two products, even though both carry the UKG name.
What UKG Ready includes, plan by plan
UKG Ready is the all-in-one suite: HR and benefits administration, payroll, talent management, time and attendance, scheduling, compliance tools, reporting and analytics, rewards and recognition, expense tracking and Bryte AI, per the FAQ on its product page. The four plans split those capabilities by how much a company needs at once.
- UKG Ready Start is for organizations with fewer than 200 employees that want a fast implementation. It bundles select capabilities from HR, payroll and payroll services with SmartCheck, time and basic scheduling, benefits, recruiting and performance, plus Bryte AI, ACA manager, leave, expense tracking and the Great Place To Work Hub.
- UKG Ready Core is the foundation: HR, payroll, payroll services with SmartCheck, time and basic scheduling, Bryte AI, benefits, ACA manager and people insights.
- UKG Ready Plus is Core plus three add-on capabilities of your choice.
- UKG Ready Advanced is Core plus six add-on capabilities.
The add-on menu for Plus and Advanced is recruiting, performance, learning, leave, scheduling, compensation, document manager, people assist, expense tracking and the Great Place To Work Hub. That structure is useful for budgeting, because it tells you which capabilities trigger a plan change. A company that needs recruiting, performance and learning fits Plus; one that also needs compensation, scheduling and leave is already at Advanced.
Start is the odd one out. It packs recruiting and performance into a plan for small companies, which Core does not include, so a 150-person firm could find Start covers more of its needs than Core. Ask UKG to price both before you assume the bigger plan is the better one.
What UKG Pro adds for enterprises
UKG Pro is UKG's human capital management suite for enterprise organizations. Its product page lists human resources, HR service delivery, talent, time and attendance, scheduling, strategic workforce planning, compliance, reporting and analytics, communication and collaboration, the Great Place To Work Hub, and platform and security as the core blocks.
Three capabilities on the Pro page have no equivalent on the Ready page:
- Global payroll across 160+ countries, which is the clearest dividing line. Ready's page describes payroll with automatic regulatory updates but makes no multi-country claim.
- UKG Shiftboard, scheduling for industries where compliance, safety and 24/7 operations cannot be compromised, and UKG Dynamic Workforce Operations, a real-time control center that aligns staffing, compliance and labor costs during the day.
- High-volume hiring, which UKG pitches as hiring frontline talent "in days, not weeks" inside the same HCM and workforce management system.
UKG also points Pro buyers to the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud HCM Suites for 1,000+ employee enterprises, in which it says it is named a Leader. That report is aimed at large organizations, so it is a fair signal of where Pro is meant to compete: against Workday and SAP SuccessFactors, not against BambooHR. For that comparison, see our Workday review and Workday alternatives.
How much do UKG Pro and UKG Ready cost?
UKG publishes no price for either suite on its product or plans pages, and both route buyers to a sales form. That means the comparison you can make before a demo is a yardstick, not a UKG number. We built one from two vendors that print their prices.
BambooHR lists Core at $10, Pro at $17 and Elite at $25 per employee a month on its pricing page, with payroll as a separate add-on. Gusto lists Plus, its multi-state payroll plan, at $80 a month plus $12 per person on its pricing page. Both were read on 17 October 2026.
| Headcount | BambooHR Pro (HR, no payroll) | Gusto Plus (payroll and HR) | What it tells you about a UKG quote |
|---|---|---|---|
| 150 employees | $2,550 a month | $1,880 a month | A UKG Ready quote well above both needs time and scheduling depth to justify it |
| 1,500 employees | $25,500 a month | $18,080 a month | At this size the comparison is UKG Pro against Workday, not against SMB tools |
These are our calculations on list prices: headcount times the per-employee rate, plus Gusto's base fee. They exclude implementation, benefits and taxes. The point is the order of magnitude. A 150-person company comparing a UKG Ready quote should know that a published HR plan for the same team costs about $30,600 a year on BambooHR Pro, and that payroll would sit on top.
When you request quotes, ask UKG for the same three numbers from each suite: the per-employee monthly rate, the one-time implementation fee, and which add-ons are included. For Ready, ask which plan (Start, Core, Plus or Advanced) the quote assumes and which add-ons fill its three or six slots. For a broader view of HR software prices, see how much an HRIS costs and ADP pricing.
Where each one falls short
UKG Ready's limits are the flip side of its scope. The page makes no multi-country payroll claim, so a company with staff abroad needs a separate employer of record or global payroll vendor; our HRIS for remote teams guide covers that pairing. Scheduling on Start and Core is listed as basic, and fuller scheduling takes one of the add-on slots on Plus and Advanced. And UKG gives no price, which makes Ready harder to compare than BambooHR or Paylocity's published options for the same size of company.
UKG Pro's limits are cost and weight. It is sold to enterprises, and nothing on the page suggests a light plan for a company with a few hundred employees. If your workforce is office-based in one country, Pro's shift scheduling, Shiftboard and labor-cost tools are capabilities you would pay for and not use. A mid-market company is usually better served by Ready or by one of the platforms in our mid-market HRIS guide.
Both share one practical risk: UKG markets Ready and Pro as separate products for different company sizes, not as tiers of one product. A fast-growing company should ask UKG directly how a Ready customer moves to Pro, whether data and configuration carry over, and what that move costs.
Which one should you choose?
Choose UKG Ready when you have up to a few hundred employees, mostly in the US, and you want HR, payroll, time and scheduling from one vendor. It suits hourly and shift-based employers well, given its time, accrual and scheduling features, and Ready Start is the entry point for companies under 200 employees. Compare it against Paycom, Paylocity and ADP, which sell to the same buyers.
Choose UKG Pro when you are an enterprise with thousands of employees, complex pay and scheduling rules, unionized or 24/7 operations, or payroll in many countries. Put it on a shortlist with Workday and SAP SuccessFactors, and ask each for its implementation timeline and fee in writing.
If neither fits, the problem is usually size in the middle. A 300-person company that finds Ready too light and Pro too heavy should compare a UKG Ready Advanced quote with the platforms in our best payroll software guide, and check scheduling needs against our time clock software guide, before signing with either.
How we compared
On 17 October 2026 we read UKG's UKG Pro page, UKG Ready page and UKG Ready plans page, including the plan FAQ, and the BambooHR and Gusto pricing pages for the reference costs. UKG figures on this page are only the ones UKG states on those pages, such as its global payroll country count and the employee limit on Ready Start. The cost table multiplies published BambooHR and Gusto rates by headcount and adds nothing else. Toolradar's UKG Ready profile and HRIS category were read the same day. We did not use either UKG suite.
FAQ
What is the difference between UKG Pro and UKG Ready?
UKG Ready is UKG's all-in-one HR, payroll, time and scheduling suite for small and midsize businesses, sold in four plans: Start, Core, Plus and Advanced. UKG Pro is UKG's enterprise human capital management suite, with strategic workforce planning, HR service delivery and a global payroll offer. UKG sells them as separate products, so ask how a move from Ready to Pro works before you sign.
How much does UKG Ready cost?
UKG publishes no price for UKG Ready on its product or plans pages, so every plan is quoted. As a yardstick, BambooHR's published Pro plan costs $17 per employee a month and Gusto Plus costs $80 a month plus $12 per person, both checked on 17 October 2026. Ask UKG for a per-employee rate, the implementation fee and the plan the quote assumes.
Is UKG Ready for small businesses?
Yes. UKG describes Ready as built for small to mid-sized businesses, and its Ready Start plan is for organizations with fewer than 200 employees that want a fast implementation. Start includes select HR, payroll, time, benefits, recruiting and performance capabilities, plus Bryte AI and expense tracking.
Does UKG Pro do global payroll?
Yes. UKG's Pro page lists a global payroll offer that manages compliant payroll across 160+ countries in one experience. UKG Ready's page makes no multi-country payroll claim, so a Ready customer with staff abroad would need a separate global payroll or employer of record provider.
Can you upgrade from UKG Ready to UKG Pro?
UKG presents Ready and Pro as separate products for different company sizes, not as tiers of one product, so treat a move as a change of system until UKG confirms otherwise. Within Ready, UKG says you can add capabilities later without replacing the system. Ask UKG for the migration path and its cost before you sign if you expect to pass several hundred employees.
What are the alternatives to UKG Ready?
The vendors sold to the same small and midsize buyers include Paycom, Paylocity, ADP and BambooHR. BambooHR is the one that prints its prices: Core $10, Pro $17 and Elite $25 per employee a month. On Toolradar, BambooHR is listed as an alternative to 46 other HRIS tools, the most in the category.
