Remote Pricing 2026: EOR, Payroll, Contractors and PEO

Remote's employer of record starts at $599 per employee per month in 2026. Global Payroll and Contractor Management each start at $29 a person, Contractor Management Plus at $99, Contractor of Record at $325, and the US PEO at $99 per employee. Remote lists no setup, onboarding or platform fee, and venture-backed startups get 15% off EOR and contractors for a year.

Every price here was read on Remote's pricing page on 18 October 2026. Each is a "starting at" platform fee per person per month: salary, employer taxes and benefit premiums sit on top. The practical read for an HR lead is that Remote is cheapest where it prices lowest against its rivals, which is contractors, and roughly level with the market on employees.

Product Starts at Who it is for What the fee covers
Employer of Record $599 per employee/mo Hiring where you have no entity Remote employs the person locally, runs payroll, benefits and compliance in 90+ countries

Toolradar data: Remote is listed as an alternative to 19 other tools on Toolradar, the software directory we run, seventh of the 74 tools in its payroll category, and visitors most often compare it with Deel and Rippling, as of October 2026. The record is Remote on Toolradar, next to Deel and the best EOR services guide.

How much does Remote's employer of record cost?

Remote's EOR fee is the service charge, not the cost of the hire. The employee's gross salary, the employer's social contributions and any benefits are billed on top, and in most countries they dwarf the platform fee.

What the fee buys is the legal employment relationship, which is the hard part to do yourself. Remote becomes the employer in a country where you have no subsidiary, issues the local contract, runs payroll and handles statutory filings and benefits, with a dedicated specialist at onboarding. That is the product to pick for a first hire in a new country, and the one to leave once headcount there justifies opening an entity.

Remote's page says "starting at", so expect the fee to vary for some countries or contract types; get the quote for each country before you commit a budget line. Our Remote review covers the service side, and the best EOR services list compares the field.

What do Remote's contractor plans cost?

Remote sells three contractor products, and the gap between them is the price of shifting misclassification risk off your company.

  • Contractor Management, $29 a month. You hold the contract; Remote handles contracts, invoice approval, payments, compliance screening and US 1099-NEC forms. Remote says you pay only for contractors you actively work with that month, which suits project-based teams.
  • Contractor Management Plus, $99 a month. The same tool, plus up to $100,000 in indemnity per contractor for penalties, capped at $1M per company over the whole term, and contracts drafted by Remote for each country. Remote's footnote limits that cover to claims arising from a breach of its service warranty.
  • Contractor of Record, $325 a month. Remote contracts with and pays the contractor, with uncapped indemnity for misclassification and local compliance, and IP transfer written into the contract.

For most teams, the plain plan is the default and the upgrades are insurance. Plus costs $70 more per contractor each month, so on 10 contractors it adds $8,400 a year for cover capped at $1M in total. Contractor of Record makes sense for long-term, full-time contractors in countries with strict classification rules, where the next step would otherwise be an EOR hire at nearly twice the price.

What do Global Payroll and the US PEO cost?

Global Payroll is for countries where you already own a legal entity, at the same entry rate as the base contractor plan. It covers local gross-to-net calculation, tax filings and statutory contributions, and syncs time off, timesheets and expenses. A company running 25 people through its own entities pays $725 a month in platform fees on our arithmetic, a fraction of what the same people would cost on EOR.

The PEO is billed in USD from a US bank account. It is co-employment for a US company hiring across states without registering an entity in each, with payroll, compliance and HR experts included. For how PEO fees compare across providers, see how much a PEO costs and the best PEO services ranking.

What does a Remote team cost in a year?

These bills use Remote's starting prices for platform fees only. They exclude salaries, employer taxes and benefits, and they are our arithmetic, not a quote.

Team Monthly platform fees Yearly
Seed startup: 3 EOR employees and 5 contractors, list price $1,942 $23,304
Same team with the 15% startup discount $1,650.70 $19,808.40
Agency with 20 contractors on Contractor Management $580 $6,960
Same 20 contractors on Contractor Management Plus $1,980 $23,760
US company with 10 employees on the PEO $990 $11,880

The startup discount is worth $3,495.60 in year one to the seed team, because it applies to both the EOR and contractor lines. Remote limits it to companies that have raised pre-seed, seed or Series A, and to the first 12 months, so budget the list price from month 13.

The contractor rows show where Remote's ladder bites. Moving 20 contractors from the base plan to Plus more than triples the bill, which is only rational if a single misclassification claim would cost more than the $16,800 a year difference.

Does Remote charge a deposit, setup fee or FX markup?

Remote says it charges no setup, onboarding or platform fee, and no standard deposit. The caveat is the refundable reserve. In some cases Remote may require a reserve payment to cover employment obligations; it says the funds stay yours and are credited or refunded when no longer needed, but it still ties up cash at hiring time, so ask before you sign.

Currency conversion uses the Remote FX rate, set once for each monthly billing cycle and shown on the invoice before payment. Remote says it absorbs exchange-rate movement during that cycle, so there are no true-ups. The page does not publish the spread between its rate and the market rate, which is the number to compare when you pay staff in several currencies.

How does Remote compare with Deel and Oyster on price?

On employees Remote and Deel tie and Oyster costs more; on contractors Remote ties Oyster for the lowest rate of the three. Deel's pricing page lists EOR at the same rate as Remote, contractors at $49, Contractor of Record at $325 and US PEO at $125. Oyster's pricing page lists EOR at $699 per employee and contractors at the same rate as Remote after a free first 30 days, with annual discounts available.

Same seed team, monthly platform fees Remote Deel Oyster
3 EOR employees $1,797 $1,797 $2,097
5 contractors $145 $245 $145
Total $1,942 $2,042 $2,242

Remote undercuts Deel by $100 a month on this team, entirely from the contractor line, and Oyster costs $300 more because of its EOR rate. For a US team, Remote's PEO is $26 per employee below Deel's $125, a $3,120 yearly gap on 10 people. Our Deel pricing breakdown and Deel vs Remote comparison go deeper on that pair, and the Oyster review and Deel review cover the products behind the prices.

Platform fees are not the only difference, and a $100 monthly gap is small next to one salary. Country coverage, benefits quality and how fast each provider can onboard in a given country often settle the choice before price does, so shortlist on coverage first and use price to break the tie.

Who should use Remote, and who should not?

Remote fits a company that mixes contractors and a few international employees. Its entry contractor plan and no-platform-fee model keep the base cost low, and the startup discount makes the first year cheaper still for an early-stage team.

It fits less well when you already own entities in most of your countries, since Global Payroll then does the job at a fraction of the EOR fee, or when you only hire in the US, where a domestic PEO or payroll provider may serve you better. Our best payroll software ranking and the guide to payroll costs for a small business cover those cases, and best HRIS for remote teams covers the system that sits beside an EOR. For contractor-only teams, the best contractor management platforms list compares Remote's base plan with the alternatives.
