Remote Review
Remote's prices for employer of record, payroll, contractors and PEO, what each includes, which fees it leaves unpublished, and four alternatives.
Remote is worth the price in 2026 if you need people employed in many countries without local entities, and you can accept a monthly EOR fee at the top of the published rates here. The employer of record costs $699 per employee per month on monthly billing, or $599 on an annual contract, per Remote's own pricing and EOR pages, verified on 10 October 2026. Contractors are the cheap line, and US-only hiring falls under a separate PEO rate.
Its strongest claim is ownership: Remote says it directly owns every legal entity it employs through, and it offers unlimited indemnity on EOR hires. The biggest catch is payroll. The payroll rate carries an implementation fee and a recurring delivery fee that the pricing page does not price, and Remote does not publish its currency markup as a figure. Get those payroll fees in writing before you compare Remote's total against anyone else.
Key factsBest for: HR teams that need owned legal entities and unlimited…
- An employer of record, global payroll and contractor platform that says it owns every entity it employs through, with payroll fees left unpublished.
- Countries without a local entity: 90-plus
- Average onboarding (Remote's figure): 2.3 days
- Contractor penalty cover on Plus: Up to $100,000 per contractor
- Free trial: None listed, demo only
Pros
- Says it directly owns all of its legal entities, so no third-party employer sits between you and your workers.
- Offers unlimited indemnity on EOR hires with no caps, according to its own EOR page.
- No platform, onboarding or setup fee on its EOR, HR and contractor products, per its FAQ.
Cons
- Its monthly EOR fee sits at the top of the published rates in this group, tied with Oyster.
- Payroll carries an implementation fee and a recurring delivery fee that the pricing page does not price.
- No free trial: every product starts with a demo, and Remote collects reserve payments in rare, high-risk cases.
RemoteRemote is a global HR platform that employs people through legal entities it says it owns, rather than through a partner employer. That matters when you hire in a country where you have no company: the employer of record is the legal employer, so who owns the entity decides who answers when a termination or a notice period goes wrong.
Our employer of record guide covers the category, and this page is about Remote alone.
Toolradar data: Toolradar's employer of record guide compares 11 providers, and Remote ranks fourth in its table.
That table lists Remote from $29 a month, which is the payroll and contractor rate, so the EOR fee is the number to budget against.
This review prices Remote the way a buyer will see it: employer of record, payroll, contractor management, contractor of record, PEO, equity and the HRIS tier, each at the rate Remote publishes where it publishes one.
How we compared: Remote's pricing and employer of record pages, read on 10 October 2026, set against Deel, Oyster, RemoFirst and Rippling, with each rate taken from that provider's own pricing page on the same day. We did not buy or test any of these platforms.
What is Remote?
Remote is a global HR platform that sells five employment and payroll products and an HR core under one account. Its employer of record hires full-time staff in 90-plus countries through entities the company says it owns.
Its global payroll product runs payroll for workers employed by your own local entities, and its contractor products cover independent workers across borders.
Its PEO handles US employees across states without separate legal entities in each one.
Its payroll product includes HR Core, the base module for employee records, documents, time off, org charts and built-in compliance tools.
Remote HRIS adds analytics, native integrations and custom workflows on top of that base, and Remote does not publish a price for it. Equity administration, from $39 a month, covers companies granting stock to employees and contractors of Delaware C-Corps.
Teams already on Rippling will see a different shape of platform, which the Rippling entry below covers.
How Remote works
Remote's employer of record starts with an onboarding flow that picks localized contracts and payroll setup for the country you select. The company says its average onboarding takes 2.3 days, against a standard that may take 30 days.
Treat it as Remote's claim, and ask for the timing in your specific country in writing before you commit.
Day to day, HR works in one platform for time off, documents and compliance, while payroll follows each country's rules, which Remote says it handles.
The contractor product follows a different path: you send a localized contract, approve invoices with one click or set auto-pay, and pay only for contractors you actively work with.
That pay-as-you-go model is the cheapest part of the product, and the one a team is least likely to misjudge. For the contractor side of the category, see our contractor management platforms guide.
Remote key features
Remote pricing
Remote publishes one price list, and its employer of record page repeats the EOR rate with the billing split. Both pages were read on 10 October 2026: Remote's pricing page and its employer of record page.
The EOR is priced at the monthly rate in the table when billed monthly, and at a lower rate on an annual contract. For ten employees, that is $6,990 a month, or $83,880 a year, on monthly billing, against $5,990 a month, or $71,880 a year, on the annual contract.
Monthly billing costs $12,000 more over the year for the same seats.
Contractors are the cheapest line. Ten contractors on the base tier come to $290 a month, or $3,480 a year. Plus is the higher tier with penalty cover, and ten contractors on Plus come to $990 a month, or $11,880 a year.
Contractor of Record starts at $325 per contractor per month, and PEO starts at $99 per employee per month, billed in USD to a US bank account.
Payroll is where the list stops being complete. At the payroll rate, 25 employees come to $725 a month before the implementation fee and the recurring payroll delivery fee.
Remote's FAQ says both apply and prints neither amount. Remote also says its EOR, HR and Contractor Management products carry no platform, onboarding or setup fees, so those lines are the ones a budget can rely on.
For the payroll side of the category, see our payroll software guide.
Competitor rates come from each company's own page, read the same day: Deel, Oyster, RemoFirst and Rippling. Rippling publishes no employer of record rate and asks for a quote.

Who Remote is for
Remote fits an HR team that expects to hire in several countries within the next year, wants employees on owned entities rather than partners, and values uncapped protection enough to pay a premium for it.
It also fits a company that wants contractor management with penalty cover: Plus covers up to $100,000 per contractor, while Oyster states its misclassification protection as an aggregate figure instead.
It is a weaker fit in three clear cases.
A company with one or two hires in one country may pay less through a cheaper EOR such as RemoFirst, which starts at $199 per person per month, or through Deel at its published monthly EOR rate.
A US-only team that needs payroll and benefits is better served by our PEO comparison or the Justworks review, because Remote's PEO is a starting price and its payroll fees are not published.
And a buyer who needs a price before a sales call should read Deel's published rates first, since Remote's payroll total needs a quote.
Best Remote alternatives
If Remote is not the right fit, these are the closest options.
| Tool | Best for | Starts at | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remote | HR teams that need owned legal entities and unlimited indemnity across 90-plus countries. | EOR $699/employee/mo monthly or $599 annual | Visit → |
| Deel | Teams that want contractors, employer of record and US PEO on one account at published monthly rates. | EOR $599/employee/mo | Visit → |
| Oyster | Teams that want to try contractor management free for 30 days before paying a per-contractor fee. | EOR USD 699/employee/mo with annual discounts | Visit → |
| RemoFirst | Budget-minded teams hiring in many countries that accept a country-based EOR price with a full breakdown first. | EOR from $199/person/mo, varies by country | Visit → |
| Rippling | Teams already running HR, IT and payroll on Rippling that want global employment on the same platform. | Custom quote only | Visit → |
The bottom line
Remote is worth the premium for an HR team that needs owned entities and unlimited indemnity in 90-plus countries. Its monthly EOR fee ties Oyster at the top of the published rates here, and its annual rate only matches Deel's monthly rate.
Its contractor and PEO prices are fair for their scope, and Plus gives contractor teams a per-contractor penalty figure, where Oyster gives an aggregate one.
Get the payroll fees in writing before you compare totals. Remote's own FAQ says an implementation fee and a recurring delivery fee apply to payroll and prints neither amount, so the payroll rate is not the full cost of a payroll setup.
