Factorial Pricing 2026: Per-User Cost and What Each Module Adds
Factorial starts at $8 per user per month in 2026, with Core in every plan. Modules, payroll and IT are quoted. Team cost models and billing rules inside.

Factorial HR costs $8 per user per month at its published starting rate, per Factorial's pricing page read on 19 October 2026. That rate covers Factorial Core: the employee directory, onboarding, payslip distribution and e-signature. Time, talent, finance, IT and payroll modules are added through a tailored quote, so a 50-person team should treat $400 a month as a floor, not a budget.
That is the one number Factorial prints for US buyers. It does not publish a plan ladder, a module price list in dollars, or whether the starting rate assumes monthly or annual billing. The rest of this page works out what that floor means at five team sizes, lists what each module adds, and explains the billing rules that move the invoice. For the product verdict, read our Factorial review.
Toolradar data: Factorial's entry price ranks #18 of 30 (joint) among the time tracking tools with a verified per-user entry price on Toolradar, where the median is $7 per user per month, as of October 2026 (Factorial HR on Toolradar). The cheap-looking start is mid-pack, not a bargain, once you compare like for like.
How much does Factorial cost per user?
Factorial publishes a single starting rate, per user per month, and every plan includes Core. Above that, a specialist designs the plan around the modules you pick, and the page says it builds "no more, no less" than you ask for. There is no named Starter, Pro or Enterprise tier to compare against.
| What you buy | Price on Factorial's page | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Factorial Core | $8 per user per month (starting rate) | Employee directory, onboarding and offboarding, payslip distribution, bulk documents, legal e-signature, custom notifications, fillable PDFs |
| Time, talent and finance modules | Tailored quote | Time off, time tracking, shifts, performance, recruitment, engagement, training, expenses, projects, procurement |
| IT modules | Tailored quote | SaaS management, IT inventory, multi-OS device management, endpoint security |
| Payroll | No list price | Payroll data, payslips and a directory of certified consultancies that calculate payroll |
| Free plan | None listed | The page offers a free demo and a tailored quote |
The practical reading: Core is an HR records and documents system. Most teams buy Factorial for time tracking, shifts or performance reviews, and none of those is in Core. Budget the starting rate as the cost of the filing cabinet, then ask what each module adds per user.
What does Factorial cost for your team size?
The table below multiplies the starting rate by headcount. It is our arithmetic on the one printed price, before modules, payroll, implementation and tax, so read every figure as the lowest possible bill.
| Users | Per month at the starting rate | Per year (12 months) |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | $80 | $960 |
| 25 | $200 | $2,400 |
| 50 | $400 | $4,800 |
| 100 | $800 | $9,600 |
| 200 | $1,600 | $19,200 |
Small teams face one more unknown. Factorial's help center says every contract has a seat floor, the minimum number of users billed, and that the floor cannot be lower than a minimum that depends on your market. The help center does not print that minimum. A 10-person company could pay for more seats than it has, so ask for the seat floor in writing before comparing the $80 line with anything else.
Mid-size teams should look at the module count instead. At 100 users, every extra dollar per user on a module adds $1,200 a year. Two modules quoted at a few dollars each can double the Core bill, which is why the quote matters more than the headline.
What does each Factorial module add?
The pricing page groups the catalog into four families and lists three headline features per module. These are what a quote prices, line by line.
| Family | Module | Headline features on the pricing page |
|---|---|---|
| Time | Time Off | Smart time-off validations, unlimited policies, custom absence types |
| Time | Time Tracking | Geolocation, QR clock-in, overtime compensation |
| Time | Shift Management | Automated shifts, shifts in bulk, rotating shifts |
| Talent | Performance | 360 reviews, competencies tracking, review analytics |
| Talent | Recruitment | Multi-job posting, AI CV parsing, knockout question templates |
| Talent | Engagement | eNPS insights, team pulse, climate surveys |
| Talent | Training | Auto-generated certificates, knowledge tests, satisfaction surveys |
| Finance | Expenses | Receipt reading (OCR), multi-step approvals, real-time tracking |
| Finance | Project Management | Hours and expenses per project, a projects overview |
| Finance | Procurement | Central purchase requests, approval workflows, vendor management |
| IT | SaaS Management | Access updates from HR changes, unused license detection, offboarding deprovisioning |
| IT | IT Inventory | Device ordering, assignment and role-based onboarding kits |
| IT | Multi-OS MDM | Zero-touch setup, enforced security policies, remote lock and wipe |
| IT | EDR and cybersecurity | Endpoint protection on enrollment, enforced encryption |
A shift-based business (retail, hospitality, clinics) usually needs Time Tracking and Shift Management on top of Core. An office team running review cycles needs Performance, and often Engagement. Our PTO tracking ranking and time clock ranking show what single-purpose tools charge for the same jobs, which is the benchmark to hold a Factorial module quote against.
How much does Factorial IT cost?
Factorial IT is the only module with a figure on Factorial's own site, and it is in euros. Factorial's comparison with Jamf, dated 16 June 2026, prices MDM and SaaS management from €10 per employee per month and EDR from €3.50 per device, priced in euros. The same article says Factorial IT has no minimum term and no implementation fee.
The pricing page itself prints no IT price, so a US buyer should ask for a dollar quote. The useful takeaway is the order of magnitude: the IT bundle per employee costs more than Core does. A company buying Factorial mainly for device management is buying an IT product with HR attached, and should compare it with an MDM tool on that basis.
Does Factorial charge extra for payroll?
Payroll has no list price, and Factorial does not run payroll the way Gusto or Rippling do. The Factorial payroll page describes centralizing payroll data, sending payslips in bulk and sharing data with your accountant. For the calculation itself, it points to a directory of certified consultancies that calculate, review and validate payroll, and it integrates with payroll software you already use.
For a US employer, that means two bills: Factorial for HR, plus a payroll provider or consultant. Our guide to what payroll costs a small business prices that second line, and it often exceeds the Core subscription at small headcounts.
How does Factorial bill seats on monthly and annual plans?
Factorial offers both monthly and annual plans, and its pricing FAQ and help center spell out how headcount moves the invoice. The rules below come from those two sources, read on 19 October 2026.
- Monthly plans are charged on the number of employees at the start of each month.
- Annual plans invoice a month only when active employees exceed the annual plan. Factorial bills that surplus for the month and issues no credit.
- Mid-year changes on yearly plans are billed or refunded pro rata, per the help center billing article.
- The seat floor cannot be reduced until the contract renewal date, even if headcount falls.
- Tax is added under current legislation, so the starting rate is a pre-tax figure.
- Payment is by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover or direct debit.
- Cancellation is allowed at any time; the subscription stops renewing and stays usable until the renewal date.
The annual plan suits a stable or growing headcount. A seasonal business that shrinks in winter keeps paying its floor until renewal, so the monthly plan protects it better, even if a quote prices the annual plan lower.
Is Factorial cheaper than BambooHR or Rippling?
On the published starting rates, Factorial is the cheapest of the three at 26 people and above, and the gap closes once modules enter. The prices below were read on each vendor's page on 19 October 2026.
| Vendor | Published starting price | What the start covers | Cost at 50 users (our arithmetic) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Factorial | $8 per user per month | Core HR records and documents | $400/mo before modules |
| BambooHR | $10 per employee per month on Core | The Core HR plan, with payroll sold separately | $500/mo at the card rate |
| Rippling | $8 per employee per month, plus a monthly base fee | The required platform, before products | The same per-head total as Factorial, plus a base fee its pricing page does not print |
| HiBob | No published price | Demo request only | Not published |
Two details change the picture. BambooHR's pricing page charges teams of 25 or fewer a flat $250 a month on Core, which is $25 a head at 10 people, against Factorial's $80 total at the same size. Its FAQ also quotes $10.25 for Core, higher than the card. Rippling's pricing page matches Factorial's per-head start but adds a base fee and sells payroll as a product it runs, which Factorial does not.
So the cheapest headline is not the cheapest system. If you need time tracking and reviews, compare a Factorial quote with BambooHR Pro and a Rippling quote at the same headcount. Our BambooHR pricing guide and Rippling pricing guide break down those two bills, and the HiBob review covers the quote-only option.
Which teams get the best value from Factorial?
Factorial is good value for a team of roughly 10 to 50 that wants time off, time tracking and shifts on one platform and already has a payroll provider it likes. Core plus two time modules replaces several single-purpose apps, and the per-user start sits below BambooHR's card rate.
It is poor value in three cases. A US company that wants payroll run inside its HR system will pay for Factorial plus a payroll vendor. A team that needs a price before a sales call gets only the starting rate. A European-first buyer should also read our Personio review, since the two sell to the same mid-size market. For the wider field, the small business HRIS ranking and the HR software pricing index put Factorial beside a dozen rivals, and our guide to what an HRIS costs sets the category range.
Toolradar data: the HRIS ranking on Toolradar had evaluated 33 HRIS tools as of October 2026, and 18% of them offer a free plan. Factorial is in the 82% that do not, so a free start means a different vendor.
How we priced this
Every Factorial price and billing rule on this page comes from factorialhr.com/pricing, the payroll page, the help center billing article and Factorial's dated Jamf comparison, all read on 19 October 2026. Rival prices come from the BambooHR and Rippling pricing pages read the same day. Every total is our arithmetic on printed prices, not a Factorial quote, and no total assumes a module price Factorial does not print. Toolradar profiles: Factorial HR, BambooHR and Rippling.
FAQ
How much does Factorial HR cost in 2026?
Factorial starts at $8 per user per month, per its pricing page on 19 October 2026, and every plan includes Factorial Core. Modules for time, talent, finance and IT are priced in a tailored quote, and payroll has no list price, so the starting rate is the floor of the bill.
Does Factorial have a free plan or free trial?
Factorial lists no free plan on its pricing page. It offers a free demo and a tailored quote, and the page states no trial length. Of the 33 HRIS tools on Toolradar's ranking, 18% have a free plan, which our free HR software guide covers.
What is included in Factorial Core?
Core includes the employee directory, onboarding and offboarding, payslip distribution, bulk document sending, legal e-signature, custom notifications and fillable PDFs. Time tracking, shifts, performance reviews, recruitment and expenses are separate modules added in the quote.
What does Factorial cost for 50 employees?
At the starting rate, 50 users cost $400 a month, or $4,800 a year, before modules, payroll and tax. That figure is our arithmetic on the printed rate. Ask the quote for the per-user price of each module and the contract's seat floor, because both change the total.
Is Factorial billed monthly or annually?
Both. Monthly plans charge for employees active at the start of each month. Annual plans add an invoice only in months when active employees exceed the plan, with no credit when headcount drops, and the seat floor stays fixed until renewal. The pricing page does not say which billing the starting rate assumes.
Does Factorial run US payroll?
Factorial centralizes payroll data and payslips, and refers the calculation to certified consultancies or to payroll software it integrates with. A US employer should budget a separate payroll provider. Payroll has no published price on Factorial's site.
