TL;DR

Papaya Global is worth it if you hire across many countries and want EOR, payroll and contractor payments from one vendor, and its starting prices are the lowest of the five EOR platforms compared here. EOR starts at $499 per employee a month, Contractor of Record at $199 and its contractor solution at $5 per contractor, with payroll on your own entities priced separately.

The catch is the word "starting": every plan ends in a quote, so the published rate is a floor, not a bill. On those floors, a team of 5 EOR employees and 10 contractors costs $2,545 a month, against $3,285 on Remote and $3,485 on Deel at their list prices. Prices were read on Papaya Global's pricing page on October 17, 2026.

Papaya Global sells itself to finance and HR teams that run payroll in many countries at once, and its pricing page reads that way: six products, each with a "starting from" price and a quote button. For a buyer that matters in two directions. The floor is lower than Deel, Remote, G-P or Oyster publish, but you cannot know your real rate until sales prices your countries and headcount.

This review prices the common case. It covers what each Papaya plan includes, what a small global team costs at the starting rates, and where the four closest rivals land on the same scenario. For the wider field, our EOR services guide ranks nine providers.

HRpresso data: on Toolradar, the software directory we run, Papaya Global is listed as an alternative to 11 other tools, joint 13th of the 74 payroll tools it tracks as of October 2026, per its Papaya Global profile.

What is Papaya Global?

Papaya Global is a global workforce and payroll platform. It employs people for you through its employer of record (EOR) service in 180+ countries, engages contractors through Contractor of Record (COR) in 160+ countries, pays contractors through its contractor solution and OnePay, and runs payroll on your own entities through Payroll Plus and Workforce OS.

An EOR is the legal employer of your hire in a country where you have no entity: it issues the contract, runs local payroll and benefits, and carries the compliance liability, for a monthly fee per person. Papaya's EOR plan lists immigration services, auto-generated country-specific contracts, time and attendance tracking, liability coverage and worker wallets. The platform lists SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type II compliance and describes itself as a licensed financial institution running its own payment rails.

How Papaya Global works

Every plan starts with a quote, which is the main practical difference from Remote and Deel. You request pricing, Papaya prices your countries and headcount, and you sign for the products you need: EOR for employees in countries without an entity, COR or the contractor solution for freelancers, and Payroll Plus or Workforce OS for staff on your own entities. All plans include the features of Payments OS, Papaya's payment layer, so employees and contractors are paid from the same system.

Day to day, the workforce data sits in one place. Payroll Plus lists standardized gross-to-net reports, automated payslip distribution, direct debit payments and advanced BI analytics, while the contractor solution handles invoices, mass onboarding of 1,000+ workers and self-service contractor onboarding. Papaya also says it connects to your existing HRIS, ERP and VMS tools, which matters because it is not a full HR system of record for performance or culture work.

Papaya Global key features

Employer of Record
Hiring in 180+ countries with full payroll and benefits, immigration services, local contracts and liability coverage. Most buyers come for this product, and for any team with employees abroad it will be the largest line on the bill.
Contractor of Record
Papaya engages contractors compliantly in 160+ countries and carries the liability, with no deposit required. It costs far more than plain contractor payments, so use it only where misclassification risk is real.
Contractor solution and OnePay
Invoice-to-pay automation, mass onboarding and a contractor wallet. OnePay charges no platform or contractor fees and promises to match competitive FX quotes, so the FX rate is the cost to watch.
Payroll Plus
Fully managed global payroll on your own entities, with US payroll support, benefits, immigration and equity support. It suits companies that already own entities and want one payroll process.
Workforce OS
The enterprise tier that adds AI-powered payroll validation, journal entry automation and custom roles and permissions. It is quote only and aimed at large payroll teams.
Payments infrastructure
Papaya says payments run on rails it owns, in local currency across 180+ countries, with same-day contractor payments. That is the main difference from rivals that pay through partner banks.

Papaya Global pricing

Every Papaya Global price here is a starting rate read on Papaya Global's pricing page on October 17, 2026, and every plan carries a quote button, so treat these as floors. Our cost model takes a team of 5 employees on an EOR and 10 independent contractors. At Papaya's starting rates that is $2,545 a month, or $30,540 a year, before salaries and employer costs. If the 10 contractors need Contractor of Record instead, the contractor line rises from $50 to $1,990 a month.

The same team at the rivals' published rates: Remote $3,285 a month, G-P $3,385 (Remote and G-P also print starting prices), Deel $3,485 and Oyster $3,785. Over a year, the gap between Papaya's floor and Deel's list price is $11,280. These totals are our arithmetic on vendor pages, before volume discounts, FX costs and benefits.

Papaya Global pros and cons

What we like

  • EOR coverage in 180+ countries, among the widest stated reach of any EOR vendor here
  • OnePay pays contractors with no platform or contractor fees
  • One platform covers EOR, Contractor of Record, contractor payments and payroll on your own entities

What could be better

Who Papaya Global is for

Papaya Global fits a company that hires in many countries, already has some entities, and wants EOR, payroll and contractor payments in one system. The Payroll Plus and Workforce OS tiers are built for finance teams that close payroll across countries every month, and the owned payment rails matter most when contractor payouts run to hundreds of people.

It is a weaker fit for a startup making its first one or two foreign hires. A quote process for a single EOR employee is slow compared with Deel, whose list price is the price, or Remote, which prints its rates with no setup or platform fees, and the discount below their rate may not survive Papaya's quote. Teams that also need an HR system of record for reviews and time off should read our HRIS for remote teams guide.

The bottom line

Buy Papaya Global if you employ or pay people in many countries and will negotiate a quote; its starting rates are the lowest published of the five platforms compared here. The value grows with scale: owned payment rails, payroll on your own entities and fee-free contractor payments through OnePay matter more at 200 workers than at 2. Get the quote in writing for each country before comparing, because a starting floor is not a promise.

For one or two first hires, Remote (Toolradar profile) and Deel (Toolradar profile) are faster to buy because both print their rates without a quote request; our Deel vs Remote comparison covers that choice. Contractor-heavy teams should also read our contractor management platforms guide and Deel pricing breakdown. Papaya's own Toolradar entry is at Papaya Global on Toolradar.

Methodology: we read Papaya Global's pricing, EOR, payroll and contractor pages and the pricing pages of four direct competitors on October 17, 2026, then priced each at the same 5-employee, 10-contractor scenario. We did not use Papaya Global ourselves, so this review covers what each plan includes and costs, not service quality.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Papaya Global cost in 2026?

Papaya Global publishes starting prices: EOR from $499 per employee a month, Contractor of Record from $199 per contractor, its contractor solution from $5 per contractor and Payroll Plus from $29 per employee. OnePay has no platform fee, and Workforce OS is quote only. Every plan ends in a quote, so these are floors. Prices were checked on Papaya Global's pricing page on October 17, 2026.

Is Papaya Global worth it?

It is worth it for companies paying people in many countries that want EOR, payroll and contractor payments from one vendor, and that will negotiate a quote. For a first one or two foreign hires, Deel and Remote are simpler because both print their rates and Deel's list price is the final price, with no sales call needed.

Papaya Global vs Deel: which is cheaper?

On published rates, Papaya Global is cheaper: its EOR starting rate sits $100 a month below Deel's list price of $599, and its contractor solution starts far below Deel's $49 per contractor. For 5 EOR employees and 10 contractors that is $2,545 a month on Papaya's floors versus $3,485 on Deel. Papaya's figures are starting prices, so compare the final quote.

How many countries does Papaya Global cover?

Papaya Global lists EOR hiring in 180+ countries and Contractor of Record in 160+ countries, and says it runs payroll and payments across 180+ countries. Check the specific country you are hiring in before signing, because coverage claims describe the network, not every service in every country.

Does Papaya Global charge per contractor?

It depends on the product. The contractor solution starts at $5 per contractor a month, Contractor of Record costs far more per contractor because Papaya carries the compliance liability, and OnePay charges no platform or contractor fees, and its FX Match Guarantee promises to match any competitive FX quote.
