Culture Amp Review 2026: Pricing, Pros, Cons and Alternatives

What Culture Amp's hidden pricing means for a real budget, what Engage and Perform include, and how four alternatives price on their own pages.

TL;DR

Short answer: Culture Amp is a strong engagement platform for companies of 200 people or more, but it publishes no price for any plan. Every product runs through a quote and bills annually. The best public benchmarks are third-party: an estimate of $5 to $9 per employee per month and a marketplace median of $23,270 a year.

Its strength is survey depth and benchmarking, with reviews and calibration on top. Engage covers pulse, onboarding and lifecycle surveys with benchmarking, while Perform adds reviews, calibration and 1-on-1s. The catch is budget visibility. Without a printed rate, you cannot set its bill beside the rates Lattice, 15Five and Betterworks print until a sales call.

Culture Amp is the name HR teams usually bring up when they want engagement surveys backed by benchmark data. It sells two core products, Engage and Perform, and asks every buyer to request a quote before seeing a number. That makes the purchase harder to plan than most HR software. Toolradar data: the reviews we track put Culture Amp at 4.5 out of 5 across 1,780 reviews on G2 and Capterra (1,617 and 163). Ratings were last checked on 17 September 2026 on its Toolradar profile.

This review covers what the product includes and what two third-party sources say buyers pay. It also shows how Culture Amp sits beside Lattice, 15Five, Betterworks and Leapsome on prices their own pages print. We also say where the product is weaker than the sales pitch, including the parts of the platform its pricing page does not explain.

What is Culture Amp?

Culture Amp is an employee experience platform. It runs engagement surveys, performance reviews, 1-on-1s and development plans from one system, and it sells those products as annual subscriptions. Engage covers pulse, onboarding, offboarding and lifecycle surveys, with benchmarking, action planning, AI comment summaries, retention insights and the Performance Culture Quadrant survey. Perform adds continuous feedback, performance reviews and calibration, goal management, 360-degree feedback, development plans and performance insights.

People Science Consulting is a separate add-on that attaches to Engage or Perform. The company's own about page says it serves more than 6,000 customers, which shows scale but says nothing about fit at a given headcount. AI Coach is included in every plan, so the AI layer sits in the base price rather than in a separate module. If you are still choosing the category, our guide to AI for performance reviews shows how AI-first review tools compare.

How Culture Amp works

Onboarding depends on the size band you buy. Companies under 200 employees get group Customer Success support, on-demand training resources and 24/5 chat and email support. The 200 to 999 band adds a one-on-one Customer Success partner and an expert project manager for implementation. Enterprise accounts of 1,000 or more get manager and executive training, one-on-one and group coaching, a results call with a People Scientist and a pre-launch review.

Day to day, the product sits inside the tools managers already use. Every plan includes HRIS integrations, Slack and Microsoft Teams integrations, 1-on-1 templates and Shoutouts, so recognition and check-ins can happen in chat as well as in the platform. You still need a core HR system underneath it, and our mid-market HRIS guide covers those options. For other survey tools, see our survey tool comparison. The weak point is follow-through: survey results change behavior only when managers act on the themes, and no platform makes that step happen for them.

Culture Amp key features

Engagement surveys and benchmarkingEssential
Pulse, onboarding, offboarding, DEI and ready-to-use surveys, with benchmarking against outside data and AI comment summaries that condense open-text answers. Benchmarking is the reason to pick Culture Amp over a basic pulse tool, because it lets you compare scores with other companies, not only with your own last quarter.
Performance reviews and calibrationEssential
Perform adds review cycles, calibration, goal management, 360-degree feedback, development plans and performance insights. Calibration is the feature that matters most to managers who have to defend ratings, though the pricing page does not show how it works in practice.
AI Coach
Included in every plan. The pricing page lists it everywhere but does not describe what it produces, so ask for a live demo before you count on it for manager coaching.
Shoutouts and 1-on-1 templates
Both come with every plan, so recognition and manager check-ins do not need an upgrade. This is the part of the subscription that gets used between survey cycles.
Retention insights
Engage lists retention insights and the Performance Culture Quadrant survey among its core parts. The pricing page does not explain how either one is scored, so treat them as questions for the sales call.
Integrations and security
HRIS integrations, Slack and Microsoft Teams integrations, SSO and encryption come with every plan. The page describes its security posture in general terms, so ask for current audit reports during procurement.

Culture Amp pricing

Culture Amp publishes no price for any plan. Its plans and pricing page offers Request a quote and Speak to our team buttons, plus three size bands: under 200, 200 to 999 and 1,000 or more employees. The FAQ says the bill depends on headcount, product and service tier, and that every product is billed on an annual basis. No free plan, free trial or minimum commitment appears on the page.

Two third-party sources fill the gap, and both are labeled as estimates. Costbench puts Culture Amp at $5 to $9 per employee per month when billed annually, a range it presents as an estimate because the vendor requires a custom quote. Vendr's marketplace page reports a median of $23,270 a year from 515 purchases, with a range of $8,242 to $59,100 and a page update dated February 2026.

Methodology: we read the printed prices on each vendor's own pricing page, quoted only the dollar figures printed there, and did not convert euros. Competitor prices were checked on 10 October 2026 on Lattice's pricing page, 15Five's pricing page, Betterworks' pricing page and Leapsome's pricing page.

Culture Amp pros and cons

What we like

  • Engage bundles surveys, action planning, benchmarking and AI comment summaries in one subscription.
  • AI Coach, Shoutouts, 1-on-1 templates and Slack or Teams integrations come with every plan.
  • The 200 to 999 band adds a one-on-one Customer Success partner and an implementation project manager.

What could be better

  • No printed price, free plan or free trial, so the bill is only known after a sales call.
  • Under 200 employees gets group Customer Success support rather than a named partner.
  • The pricing page does not explain how retention insights or the Performance Culture Quadrant are scored.

Who Culture Amp is for

Culture Amp fits people teams of 200 or more that run engagement surveys every cycle and want benchmark data to judge the results. Companies with a working performance process and managers who act on survey themes get the most from Engage and Perform, since the results only pay off when someone follows up.

It fits less well under 200 employees. The smallest band gets group support and no named partner, and you still wait for a quote. Teams that need a budget before the first call should compare Lattice or 15Five first, since both print every seat price on their pricing pages. If you need core HR and payroll before engagement, a system such as BambooHR or HiBob covers that layer, and Culture Amp sits on top of it.

The bottom line

Culture Amp is a credible shortlist name for companies of 200 people or more, especially when survey science and benchmark data matter more than a printed price. The product is well built for engagement work, but it hides its price, offers no free trial and publishes no minimum. The only public numbers are third-party estimates, so treat them as a starting point.

If you need a budget before the first call, our engagement software guide lists Culture Amp beside Lattice and 15Five. Ask for a line-item quote that separates the base fee, the per-employee rate and each product, then set it beside the printed Lattice or 15Five rate for the same headcount. That comparison will tell you more than any estimate. For the wider category, see AI for employee engagement.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Culture Amp cost?

Culture Amp does not publish a price for Engage or Perform. Its pricing FAQ says the bill depends on headcount, product and service tier, and that all products are billed annually. Costbench's third-party estimate is the most specific public anchor, and Vendr's marketplace median is $23,270 a year from 515 purchases.

Is there a free Culture Amp plan or free trial?

No. The pricing page lists no free plan and no free trial, so the only route in is a sales conversation. Lattice and 15Five also print no trial on their pricing pages, so ask every vendor for a written trial before you commit.

What would Culture Amp cost for 200 employees?

At Costbench's estimate, 200 employees come to $12,000 to $21,600 a year, billed annually. That is a computed figure from a third-party estimate, not a Culture Amp quote. Vendr's broader buyer median sits above that range, which suggests bundled modules and larger headcounts push the bill up.

Is Culture Amp worth it for a small company?

It is harder to justify under 200 employees. The smallest band gets group Customer Success support and no named partner, and the printed alternatives are easier to budget. On their own pricing pages, Lattice Engagement and 15Five Engage are the two cheapest printed entry points in this group. That sits below the low end of the Culture Amp estimate, although Lattice adds a $4,000 annual minimum.

What are the best Culture Amp alternatives?

This page compares Lattice, 15Five, Betterworks and Leapsome. Lattice suits teams that want a full performance suite with printed module prices. 15Five suits managers who want engagement and check-ins under one bundle. Betterworks suits goal-led talent planning. Leapsome is worth a look if you can work with euro pricing and its 14-day trial.

Does Culture Amp bill monthly or annually?

Culture Amp states that all of its products are billed annually. Its pricing page offers no monthly option, so budget for a twelve-month commitment at whatever rate the quote shows.
