Connecteam Review 2026: Pricing, Pros, Cons and Alternatives
What each Connecteam hub costs, what the free plan keeps, and how four rival scheduling and clock tools price the same crew.
Yes, for a deskless team of 10 or fewer, Connecteam is worth it in 2026. The Small Business plan is free for life, with every hub and feature, for up to 10 users, as printed on Connecteam's pricing page in October 2026. Past 10 people, the full feature set costs money per hub. Operations, which holds the time clock and scheduling, starts at $29 a month on a yearly plan for the first 30 users.
The number that moves the bill is the hub count, not the headcount. Operations, Communications and HR & Skills are separate subscriptions, so three Basic hubs for 25 people come to $87 a month. Price one hub first, then compare it with When I Work at $2.50 per user or Homebase at $24 per location.
Connecteam's pricing page lists no payroll. Keep the pay run where it already runs, and use the time clock roundup if all you need is punches.
Key factsBest for: Deskless crews of 10 or fewer on the free plan, or 11 to 30…
- A clock, rota, chat and training app sold per hub, with a free tier for up to 10 people.
- Free plan: Up to 10 users, all hubs
- Trial: 14 days, no card
- Billing: Per hub, USD only
- Yearly plan: Two months free
Pros
- Every hub and feature is free for life for up to 10 users on the Small Business plan.
- Operations Basic is the lower line against When I Work Essentials from 12 users up, at the printed rates.
- The HR and Skills hub adds courses, quizzes, time off, hiring and onboarding in the same login.
Cons
- Each hub is billed separately, so three Basic hubs for 25 people cost $87 a month, or $1,044 a year.
- More than one time clock or schedule needs Operations Advanced or above, so a second site means a higher tier.
Connecteam is a clock, rota, chat and training app for deskless crews, and each hub is billed on its own. The HR question is narrower. Does the hub you need cost less than a per-person scheduler once you add a second hub?
Methodology: we read Connecteam's pricing page and the pricing pages of four rival tools in October 2026, then priced each product at 25 people on one site, in US dollars, and priced Connecteam at 10 and 40 people as well. Where a vendor prints a yearly rate, we use it, and every figure is the arithmetic on the printed rate before tax.
Toolradar data: Toolradar tracks 105 time tracking tools as of October 10, 2026, and 52% of them are free, freemium or open source, per our time tracking ranking.
Connecteam is one of the free-tier names, and its Toolradar page shows the same 10-user free cap.
What is Connecteam?
Connecteam is a workforce app for hourly and deskless staff, sold as three hubs. Operations holds the time clock, job scheduling, forms and quick tasks. Communications holds chat, updates, a staff directory, surveys, events, a knowledge base and a help desk.
HR & Skills holds time off, courses, quizzes, documents, recognition, rewards, celebrations, a timeline, hiring, onboarding and an org chart.
Each hub has Basic, Advanced and Expert tiers, plus an Enterprise tier with no price printed. Each hub is its own subscription, so a team that wants the clock and the course library pays for two hubs. The pricing page lists no payroll hub, and no pay run appears in any of the three feature lists.
If you pay people through Gusto or another system, keep it, and check the payroll roundup if you have not picked one yet.
How Connecteam works
You start a 14-day trial with no card, and the trial runs on the Expert tier, so every feature is open for two weeks. When it ends, you pick a paid tier for each hub you use, or you drop to a free plan. Small Business is free for life for up to 10 users.
Limited is free for life for up to 30 users, but it keeps only the essentials of each hub. The free scheduling roundup lists the other rotas that stay free.
Multi-site is where the tiers bite. Connecteam says more than one time clock or schedule on one account needs Operations Advanced or above. A two-site restaurant cannot run two schedules on Basic, and Advanced costs $49 a month on a yearly plan. Expert allows up to 12 schedules.
Location tracking is an option called Breadcrumbs. Connecteam says it records location only while a person is on the clock, but the phone's location setting has to read Always for the app to track without staying open. That is a setting to agree with staff first, not one to switch on quietly.
The time tracking roundup covers the other clock options.
Billing is in USD only. A monthly plan can be cancelled at any time, but prepaid amounts are not refunded. An annual plan carries a prorated refund if you cancel within the first 30 days. Adding a seat mid-cycle is billed pro rata.
Connecteam key features
Connecteam pricing
Read the yearly figure first. On each card the first price is the yearly rate, and it equals ten months of the monthly price. The pricing page calls the difference two months free.
The Basic tier on each hub is the entry price for the first 30 users. On monthly billing it is $35 a month, against the lower yearly rate. Users 31 and up add $0.80 a month each on the Operations yearly tier, or $1.00 monthly.
Communications and HR & Skills Basic add $0.50 a user on yearly billing, or $0.60 monthly.
Three examples at the yearly rate. One hub for 25 people is $348 a year. Three Basic hubs for 25 people is $87 a month, or $1,044 a year. Forty people on Operations Basic is the same base plus ten users at $0.80, which comes to $37 a month, or $444 a year.
The rivals, from the same month. When I Work prints $2.50 per user per month for Essentials, then Pro and Premium at higher per-user rates. Deputy prints $5, $6.50 and $9 per user per month for Lite, Core and Pro, before tax.
Homebase prints $24 per location per month billed yearly for Essentials, or $30 billed monthly, with unlimited employees. Workyard starts at $6 per user per month billed annually, and it publishes no monthly price.
At 25 people on one site, the monthly totals at those rates are $62.50 for When I Work Essentials, $125 for Deputy Lite and $150 for Workyard Starter. Homebase is the lower line for one site above 10 people, but it covers scheduling and time tracking, not the chat, courses or onboarding on Connecteam's other two hubs.
Our Homebase review covers the location fee in detail. Against Deputy Lite, Connecteam's Operations Basic is the lower line from six users up, and against When I Work Essentials from twelve users up.
The Connecteam pricing page is the source for every Connecteam figure here, and the When I Work Toolradar page and Deputy Toolradar page list the same tools in our directory. Every price was checked on the vendor pages in October 2026.

Connecteam pros and cons
What we like

- Operations Basic is the lower line against When I Work Essentials from 12 users up, at the printed rates.
- The HR and Skills hub adds courses, quizzes, time off, hiring and onboarding in the same login.
What could be better
- Each hub is billed separately, so three Basic hubs for 25 people cost $87 a month, or $1,044 a year.
- More than one time clock or schedule needs Operations Advanced or above, so a second site means a higher tier.
Who Connecteam is for
Connecteam fits a deskless team of 10 or fewer that wants every hub free, and a team of 11 to 30 that needs the clock plus one or two more hubs. Buy one hub first, then add a second when a manager asks for chat or courses.
It is a weak fit for a single site with a big roster and no need for training or chat, because Homebase's yearly line is lower. It is also a poor match for a company that needs pay inside the same product, since no pay hub appears on the pricing page.
For HR, the HR and Skills hub is the useful piece. Hiring, onboarding, time off and an org chart sit beside courses and documents, which puts a frontline hire's paperwork in one login. If courses are the main job, the learning management roundup compares dedicated course platforms.
Pair it with the startup HR guide if you still need a file for benefits and reviews.

The bottom line
Buy Connecteam when the crew is deskless and 10 people or fewer, or when one clock plus one more hub covers the need at 30 people or fewer. Price one hub first, and add a second only when a manager asks for chat or courses.
Pick Homebase for one US hourly location above 10 staff, When I Work for a per-user rate on a small roster, and Workyard for job-site crews that need GPS-verified time.
Skip Connecteam if the need is a payroll run, a full employee file or benefits. The pricing page lists none of them, so keep the HR system that holds the file and use Connecteam beside it. The HR software guide maps that wider stack.
