LinkedIn Recruiter Review

What LinkedIn Recruiter and Recruiter Lite cost, what the seat buys, and how four alternatives compare on price.

TL;DR

Short answer: LinkedIn Recruiter has no published price, and a third-party estimate puts one seat at $8,000 to $12,000 a year. LinkedIn's pricing page says cost varies with company size and seat count, so the only Recruiter figures come from Vendr, a software buying marketplace. The entry tier, Recruiter Lite, carries a "Try for $0" button and an estimated $140 to $170 a month per seat on annual billing. The seat pays off for recruiters who source most hires on LinkedIn and need up to 150 InMails a month each. It does not pay off for a team that fills a few roles a year. The priced rivals with a trial are SeekOut and hireEZ.

LinkedIn Recruiter earns its seat for teams that source most candidates on LinkedIn, and it is a poor buy for anyone who fills only a few roles a year. The problem is the price.

LinkedIn prints no figure on its Recruiter or Recruiter Lite pages, so a buyer learns the number only after a sales conversation.

This review sets out what the seat buys, what third-party buyer data says it costs, where it falls short, and how four alternatives compare on the same one-recruiter, 12-month basis.

We read every price on LinkedIn's own pages and on each alternative's pricing page on October 10, 2026. Where a vendor publishes no price, we say so and show only a labeled third-party estimate.

Toolradar data: Toolradar tracks 30 recruiting tools as of October 10, 2026, and 15 of them are free, freemium or open source.

A buyer weighing a paid seat therefore has free options in the same category to compare against.

The full list sits in Toolradar's recruiting ranking, and the rivals have their own profiles at SeekOut and hireEZ.

What is LinkedIn Recruiter?

LinkedIn Recruiter is LinkedIn's paid search and outreach tool for recruiters. It lets a recruiter search LinkedIn members beyond their own connections, save searches and message people through InMails, which reach members a recruiter is not connected to.

It comes in two tiers: Recruiter Lite for individuals hiring a few people a year, and Recruiter for teams that hire on a steady schedule. Compare the wider field in our recruiting tools guide.

Hiring Assistant is the AI layer.

It translates a hiring goal into a sourcing strategy, then searches and reviews candidates. LinkedIn sells it as an add-on to Recruiter, so it appears on a quote as a separate line. Recruiter is a sourcing tool, not an applicant tracking system, so the candidates it finds still move through your ATS.

How LinkedIn Recruiter works

A recruiter works inside LinkedIn's own search. On Recruiter, the filters are the difference: 40+ advanced filters, keywords and Boolean search let a sourcer write an exact string for a niche role.

Recruiter Lite gives 20+ smart filters and saved search alerts, which covers a hiring manager who searches a few times a quarter.

Outreach runs through InMails, and the monthly allowance is the clearest test of which tier fits.

A recruiter who needs more than 30 outreach messages a month is on Recruiter, so the tier decision is largely a volume decision.

Hiring Assistant changes the workflow only if you buy it. It turns a plain-language brief into a search and a review queue.

That is convenient for a team with a backlog, and it is one more line to price. If candidate tracking is the gap, our applicant tracking systems guide covers the stores that hold what Recruiter finds.

LinkedIn Recruiter key features

Advanced search and BooleanEssential
Recruiter gives 40+ advanced filters, keywords and Boolean search. Lite gives 20+ smart filters. For a niche role, Boolean search is the feature that justifies the higher tier.
InMail outreachEssential
Recruiter includes up to 150 InMails per seat each month. Lite includes 30 InMail credits. Outreach volume sets the tier: a recruiter who messages more than 30 candidates a month needs Recruiter.
Hiring Assistant (add-on)
An AI assistant that turns a hiring goal into a sourcing strategy, then searches and reviews candidates. It is sold as an add-on to Recruiter with no price on LinkedIn's pages, so ask for it as a separate line in any quote.
Per-seat licensing
LinkedIn's FAQ says Recruiter licenses are typically bought per seat, and its pricing page cites company size as a factor too. A team of three recruiters pays for three seats, so the bill rises with each recruiter added.

LinkedIn Recruiter pricing

LinkedIn prints no list price for Recruiter or Recruiter Lite. The Recruiter pricing page says cost "varies based on your organization's needs, such as company size, number of Recruiter seats", and its FAQ says licenses are typically purchased per seat.

It also mentions monthly and annual commitments without a figure for either. The Lite page carries a "Try for $0" button, but it prints neither a price nor a trial length, so ask for the terms in writing before you rely on it.

Third-party buyer data fills the gap, and it is labeled as an estimate here.

Vendr, a software purchasing marketplace, estimates Recruiter list pricing per seat per year at the band in the pricing table, and Recruiter Lite at about $140 to $170 a month per seat on annual billing. Its LinkedIn page was last updated in February 2026.

These are not LinkedIn's prices, and the real figure depends on seat count and contract terms. Source: Vendr's LinkedIn page.

The scenario is one recruiter for 12 months.

Lite at the estimate runs $1,680 to $2,040 a seat a year, the monthly band times 12.

A three-recruiter team on Recruiter would cost an estimated $24,000 to $36,000 a year before Hiring Assistant or any other add-on.

Rivals on the same basis: SeekOut lists Sourcing Core at $149 a month on annual billing, or $1,788 a year, against $179 a month billed monthly, with a 14-day trial.

hireEZ starts solo recruiters at $494 a month, or $5,928 a year, with a 7-day trial. Gem quotes standard plans by headcount and lists $130 a month for its startup program, for companies with 1 to 10 FTE.

Indeed prints no plan price for Smart Sourcing or resume search.

Methodology: every vendor figure is read from that vendor's own page on October 10, 2026. Vendr is the only third-party source, and it is labeled.

Where a vendor prints no price, the page says so. The Toolradar figure comes from the recruiting category page, read the same day.

LinkedIn Recruiter pros and cons

  • 40+ advanced filters, keywords and Boolean search on Recruiter, with 20+ smart filters on Lite.
  • Hiring Assistant can turn a hiring brief into a sourcing search, as an add-on.

  • Hiring Assistant is an add-on, so the quote you receive can sit above the base seat price.

Who LinkedIn Recruiter is for

Recruiting teams that source most hires on LinkedIn are the core buyer. A full-time sourcer or recruiter who works passive candidates, especially for senior and niche roles where the candidate is not applying, gets the most from the 40+ filters and the higher InMail allowance.

Teams that already run an applicant tracking system such as Greenhouse or Lever and want a deeper sourcing pool are the closest fit.

It is a poor fit in three cases. Teams that hire a few people a year should start with Recruiter Lite, whose smaller InMail allowance and 20+ smart filters suit occasional hiring.

Small teams that need candidate tracking before sourcing should look at Workable or the free applicant tracking systems first.

And buyers who need a list price before a sales call will not find one on LinkedIn's site, so budget on a quote or a trial elsewhere.

Budget-led buyers who want monthly flexibility should compare SeekOut's monthly plan, or hireEZ's 7-day trial, before signing an annual seat on Recruiter.

The bottom line

LinkedIn Recruiter is worth its price for a team that sources most of its hires on LinkedIn. The search depth, the InMail allowance and the Boolean filters are real, and they are the reason to pay.

The price is the weakness: nothing on LinkedIn's site says what a seat costs, and the per-seat figure above is third-party.

Choose Recruiter Lite for occasional hiring, a priced rival with a trial for a first test, and a written quote before any annual seat. If your team hires a few people a year, the lower-commitment path is Lite or a 14-day SeekOut trial, not a multi-seat Recruiter contract.

Frequently asked questions

How much does LinkedIn Recruiter cost?
LinkedIn does not publish a list price for Recruiter or Recruiter Lite. Its pricing page says cost varies with company size and seat count, and licenses are typically bought per seat. A third-party estimate from Vendr puts Recruiter at $8,000 to $12,000 per seat a year, with Recruiter Lite at about $140 to $170 a month per seat on annual billing. Ask for a written quote that lists Hiring Assistant as its own line.
Is LinkedIn Recruiter worth it?
It is worth it for a recruiter who sources most candidates on LinkedIn and needs Boolean search and a steady InMail volume. It is not worth it for a team that fills only a few roles a year, since Recruiter Lite is built for occasional hiring. Without a LinkedIn sourcing habit, test a priced alternative with a trial before you commit to an annual seat.
Does LinkedIn Recruiter have a free trial?
The Recruiter Lite page has a "Try for $0" button, but it prints no trial length or price, and the Recruiter page lists no free trial. Confirm the terms in writing before you rely on one. Priced rivals show their trials on the page: SeekOut lists 14 days with no credit card, and hireEZ lists 7 days.
What is the difference between Recruiter and Recruiter Lite?
Recruiter Lite suits individuals hiring a few people a year. It includes 20+ smart filters, saved search alerts and 30 InMail credits a month. Recruiter adds 40+ advanced filters with keywords and Boolean search, and up to 150 InMails per seat each month, which makes it the tier for teams that hire on a schedule.
What is a cheaper alternative to LinkedIn Recruiter?
SeekOut's Sourcing Core plan is $149 a month on annual billing, or $1,788 a year, with a 14-day trial. Gem's startup program lists $130 a month for companies with 1 to 10 FTE, but the page does not say whether that is per user or per company. hireEZ's solo recruiter plan starts at $494 a month with a 7-day trial, and Indeed prints no plan price for Smart Sourcing.
